Finding the site
Oare Gunpowder Works is located to the North of Bysing Wood Road, just off the Western Link road to Oare in Faversham.
Sat nav postcode ME13 7UD and follow the brown tourism sign from Bysing Wood Road and veer right until you find the visitor centre.
Facilities & Opening Times
The site is open to the public seven days a week, and there is no charge for entry.
Please note that vehicle access to the car park is restricted to the following times: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm all year round including weekends and public holidays November. There is currently no charge for car parking, and no vehicles are permitted to remain overnight.
It is vitally important that vehicles vacate the site by the closing times indicated as the gate will be closed and locked at this time.
Visitor Centre Opening Times: Weekends and public holidays from mid-March to mid-November, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Car Parking
There is a small car park for visitors, directly in front of the visitor centre. This is open from 10:00am to 4.00pm all year round, there are spaces available for Blue Badge holders.
Visitors Centre & Toilets
There is a superb visitor centre and some toilets at the site, currently open at weekends and Bank Holidays from mid-March through to mid-November. There is a disable toilet facility on site that is accessible via the Radar Key Scheme. The visitors centre can be booked for educational sessions and events.
Visitor Centre Opening Times: Weekends and public holidays from mid-March to mid-November, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This is staffed by volunteers and subject to availability will be able to offer a cup of tea and a biscuit for a donation to the upkeep of the Country Park.
Finding your way around (maps)
There are also some coloured trails on-site which help you to plan your walk. There are surfaced paths suitable for wheelchairs and buggies.
